Margaret Cross Norton

Margaret Cross Norton was the daughter of Samuel Norton and Jennie Adams, born 1891, died 1984.
While working as a cataloguer, Norton was asked to become the first head archivist at the new Illinois State Archives in Springfield, Illinois. Hesitant at first, Norton finally accepted the position in January 1922 and subsequently began in April 1922. At the time she was just 30 years old.
