"Ebenezer Whitman, son of Nicholas Whitman and Mary Conant
Whitman was born in 1736 and 0n 21 Nov. 1760 in
Bidgewater, MA, married Abigail Freelove. She was
Daughter of John Freelove and Abigail Washburn, born
1741, died 1 March 1786, burial in
Old Graveyard. He settled at Bridgewater,
Massachusetts, about 25 miles south of Boston. He was a
man of intelligence and virtue, amiable in disposition
and much respected by his neighbors. The muster rolls
show that Ebenezer Whitman of Bridgewater marched to
Horse Neck, Braintree, on 4 March 1776. He was also
called out on the occasion of the alarm at Bristol, RI.,
on 8 December 1776. He died of consumption 11 February
1786 at the age of 50. His widow died 1 March 1786."
