Lovisa Whitman, daughter of James Whitman and Chloe Whitman, was born 9 October 1820 in Windsor, Berkshire Co., Mass.1

She married, Wm. P. Goff 29 May 1844 in North Adams, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts.

They lived for a time at Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kan. before moving to a farm in the Town of Yorkville, Racine Co., Wis. This property is located on Wisconsin Highway 20 at the southeast corner of the intersection where Highway 45 turns off north.

They had four children;

  • +1) Wm. James Goff, Born 18 August 1846, married 13 November 1872, Emma Jane Ball, he died 12 September 1909, Rockford, Illinois.
  • 2) Frances Lucinda Goff, born 24 May 1848, died 7 September 1849.
  • 3) Clara Lovisa Goff, born 29 April 1850, died 14 March 1855.
  • 4) Romanzo Whitman Goff, born 27 July 1855, married Minnie Kittle January 1892, he died 8 February 1911. View Newspaper items.


Lovisa Whitman Goff died in Yorkville, Wisconsin, 7 February 1859, and is buried in Lot 69, Block 6 of the Yorkville Cemetery located 6/10 of a mile West of Co. Hwy. "U" on old Yorkville Rd.
