Jonathan Belden, son of Jonathan and Sarah Belding, was born in Canaan 14 June 1778, five months after the death of his father. Early town records show this event under Births, Marriages and Deaths; 'Jonathan Belding, son to Jonathan Belding and Sarah. His wife, was born June ye 14th 1778, Entered, Abiel Fellows, Town Clerk.'

"Jonathan died in Canaan 24 September 1831, and is buried in Grassy Hill Cemetery, Falls Village... Jonathan married Love Dean sometime before 1805, possibly 1 January 1802. She was the daughter of Asa and Jane Hurlburt Dean., born 10 October 1783.

"Children as shown in the Baptismal Record of the Canaan Congregational Church were;

1) Charlotte, baptized 7 April 1805.

2) Edmund, baptized 7 September 1806.

3) John, baptized 18 October 1807.

4) Child, baptized 22 October 1809 (Sarah Ann).
